This project was a phased three-story facility expansion completed within an operational OSHPD1 hospital. It featured a new state-of-the-art Emergency Department with extensive treatment areas, including trauma and negative pressure isolation. The facility also featured new central supply services, as well as a new surgery suite accommodating organ transplants. The space was thoughtfully designed for maximum daylighting, with shell space for future expansions including a new pharmacy, also built by Abbott Construction.
The complexity of this occupied project was extensive, requiring significant make-ready activities. These included re-routing of medical gas systems out of a non-compliant building, electrical infrastructure upgrades with multiple scheduled shutdowns, underground utility extensions, and numerous mechanical infrastructure improvements.
