History on tap. What do you do with a vacant 1930s Firestone tire shop? Transform it into one of the most popular new dining spots in LA, of course.
The All Season Brewing Co. is open and serving guests. Through a partnership with Chicas Tacos, this new brewery, bar, and eatery is already a local favorite.
Located at the corner of La Brea and 8th, the trendy watering hole still feels like a mechanic’s shop. Walk in, and you sense the undeniable echo of its history in the rustic rafters, in the original red stripe along the walls. The bright, open space still holds the legacy of men and women who worked in the Firestone shop from 1938 through 2016. And that’s exactly the potential that Pouring with Heart, the local hospitality group behind All Season Brewing, saw in this Streamline Moderne historical landmark.
With the help of M. Winter Design, the team restored the past to a brilliant new life. The main hall was carefully renovated, retaining its signature grease line – a 4-foot red stripe where mechanics could brush the wall and conveniently repaint. Just above it, look closely and you’ll see the names of the original mechanics, scribbled in their own hand above long-gone coat hooks. Historic exterior windows were given new life behind the bar, allowing visitors a glimpse of the tall, silver tanks and all the brewery’s goings-on. Original ceiling rafters were repaired and matched to keep the space authentic.
New features include the luxurious 46-foot bar, running the length of the room. It’s topped with curly maple from the East Coast, finished entirely onsite by an expert craftsman. The patio features a new reproduction storefront, outdoor dining area, and a grain silo connected to the brewery (which, if you know traffic on La Brea, was a fun challenge to deliver and install).
Decorated with tires, tools, and memorabilia, it feels as if the building is a lived-in mechanic’s museum, welcoming its own evolution while celebrating its history. Incredible teamwork and craft ensured this building’s heart and heritage were lovingly preserved. We’re proud to have helped bring this dream to life.
