Abbott Construction, alongside the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, broke ground on the new Sheila Kuehl Family Wellness Center on January 12, 2018. The groundbreaking ceremony was presided over by Supervisor Kuehl, where the County, the Department of Mental Health, Mayor of San Fernando, and local community members celebrated yet another critical public investment into improving mental health for children and families.

This new LEED Gold facility will establish a refreshing and playful environment for children’s mental health, including a sunlit atrium-style waiting area, counseling, conference, and group therapy rooms, community meeting space, and a tranquil interior courtyard. The facility will also accommodate the Department of Public Health Nurse Family Partnership program, which provides home visitation services to young women throughout the County.
Abbott Construction worked closely with designer SWA Architects to develop a best-value design and construction solution for the County. They also recently completed the new Arcadia Mental Health Center alongside the County, distinguished for its completion ahead of schedule and under budget. The Sheila Kuehl Family Wellness Center is slated to complete construction under an aggressive one year schedule by Winter 2019.
