Who was the general contractor on the h Club Los Angeles? Abbott Construction built this celebrated new destination in Hollywood.

Originally the site of the Redbury Hotel, the existing building underwent major structural renovations and remediation to become the h Club Los Angeles in 2019. It is located at Hollywood and Vine, across from the iconic Capitol Records building. The h Club is a luxury, members-only, venue for creative professionals founded by the late Paul Allen (philanthropist and co-founder of Microsoft) and Dave Stewart (musician).

The new h Club LA includes performance spaces and amenities, music and recording studio, film screening room, six full bars, two interior restaurants, traditional English tea room, co-working spaces, 35 luxury bedroom suites, gym, spa, outdoor pool deck under a new sky bridge, and an exclusive rooftop restaurant and open air cinema, featuring unparalleled views of the Hollywood sign and surrounding city.

Builder of the h Club LA, Abbott Construction, assigned their top trades experts to take on this complex renovation and new construction. The successful completion of the project required utmost construction precision to completely overhaul the structure within the dense surroundings of Hollywood.

To build safely, Abbott erected a 150’ tall crane within the heart of the existing building, applying an unusual structural solution at the roof level of the subterranean parking garage with temporary shoring through three levels below. Major overhauls to the existing building included the addition of a pool at the first floor above subterranean parking, as well as a new sky bridge connecting the two building wings. This type of creative construction problem solving was key to bringing the h Club vision to life, tying together all elements of new architecture, high end luxury finishes, and unusual design elements.

The uniqueness of the h Club Los Angeles building now contributes to the creativity and culture of Los Angeles, in good company with its landmark neighbors such as Capitol Records, Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Pantages Theatre and Hollywood Palladium.
