Abbott Walks for Heart and Stroke Health

Abbott team members, family and friends recently took part in the American Heart Association (AHA) South Sound Heart and Stroke Walk at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma. This is the fifth consecutive year Abbott has participated in and sponsored the event.

The proceeds of the walk help the AHA’s mission to improve the health of all Americans while reducing deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke through a wide range of lifesaving activities.

This year Abbott’s goals were to raise $20,000 and have at least 150 walkers. Through the generous contributions and support of our partners, team members, family and friends, Team Abbott exceeded these goals and raised $22,083 and had over 165 participants.

In support of the AHA’s mission, Abbott focused on awareness by providing educational talks on heart health to our team members and subcontractors leading up to the Heart and Stroke Walk. Blood pressure monitors were stationed at jobsites for individuals to confidentially check their own blood pressure, and heart healthy material was made available to help them make informed decisions about their personal heart health.

So far, the South Sound Heart and Stroke Walk has raised over $540,000. It’s not too late to help the AHA reach their goal of $625,000 at: http://www.southsoundheartwalk.org
