Abbott Construction is partnering with the County of Los Angeles to answer the pressing need for increased mental health, medical, and homeless support services in local communities. The new Restorative Care Village at the Olive View-UCLA Medical Center campus will provide more than typical mental health services. It will offer a safe place to stay, recuperate, and receive ongoing clinical support, with the ultimate goal of helping residents successfully reintegrate in their own communities.

Located at the northeast side of the picturesque Olive View-UCLA Medical Center campus, the Restorative Care Village will feature multiple buildings and services.

The 10,000 square foot Mental Health Urgent Care Center will be a critical hub to first receive and stabilize visitors, then provide them with a purposeful discharge plan – such as interim housing, ongoing care coordination, and case management.

Adjacent, the Mental Health Wellness Center will be a 10,000-square-foot clinical building offering visitors a variety of outpatient mental health and support services.

The Residential Treatment Program will cover approximately 47,000 square feet over five modular buildings, with a total of 80 beds. This program will provide non-acute, full-time mental health care to guests, helping them achieve recovery through extended stays in a neighborhood-like environment.

The Recuperative Care Center, a two-story 18,000-square-foot modular facility, will offer 44 beds for short-term care. This will address the medical needs of those requiring more time to heal from an acute illness or injury, but who no longer need inpatient hospital care.

Additionally, the campus will be developed with lush new landscaping, walkways, nature paths, horse trails, and parking. Set against the backdrop of quiet foothills, this new Restorative Care Village will provide an unparalleled center for public mental health and community renewal.

Design development alongside SWA Architects has already begun, with construction slated to start in the second quarter of 2020. Abbott Construction and SWA have partnered with the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works and Department of Mental Health on previous notable design-build behavioral health projects including the Arcadia Mental Health Center, and the Sheila Kuehl Family Wellness Center.
