Abbott Completes GC/CM Project at Shadow Lake Elementary School

Shadow Lake Elementary School recently re-opened as planned for the 2019-20 academic year after undergoing a 52,683-square-foot capital improvement remodel.

This GC/CM project for the Tahoma School District included a reconfiguration of the existing administration and library areas to provide space for four new kindergarten classrooms and associated bathroom facilities. Other features comprised of interior finish improvements to three classroom units, upgrades to the fire alarm, security and access control systems, along with new surveillance cameras.

A GC/CM contracting method was selected because the original scope of work also identified substantial exterior improvements, bus circulation realignments and a relocation of the school entrance. This required early evaluation of the scope from a budget and schedule perspective to ensure the final design content could be completed within a 10-week schedule.
