Centinela Hospital Medical Center
Inglewood, CA
Project Overview
This project consisted of an emergency department expansion and remodel, new laboratory serving both hospital campus and outside medical facilities, a complete overhaul of emergency power system, and seismic improvement of an existing eight-story tower. The seismic improvement design included the installation of a Tubex Pile structural foundation system, a system never before utilized in any hospitals in California within the OSHPD jurisdiction. The scope of work includes the installation of 144 Tubex Piles -- depth of 60+ feet below, topped with a concrete cap footing and new concrete shear walls to create a new foundation system for the tower. All construction took place while the hospital was fully occupied and operational.
