Women of Abbott Series | Meet Marcy Martin

March 08, 2018
Construction caught Project Manager Marcy Martin’s eye at a young age. She was curious about its different stages and how various building materials came together to produce one final end-product. Initially thinking she wanted to be an architect, Marcy eventually realized that construction was more appealing to her. She took on an internship with a general contractor while in college and has been in the industry ever since.
The most interesting thing about construction to Marcy is the fact that it’s not monotonous — it’s constantly changing and challenging. It’s just as exciting to overcome hurdles during construction as it is during design. She truly enjoys collaborating with various design disciplines to work out and coordinate various details, organizing the various trades and then watching it all come together. Of course, hitting milestones on time and working with the field to keep the project within budget and on time is another aspect that Marcy finds exciting.
Being able to take the lead on an assignment and having constant support throughout is something she greatly admires about Abbott. In conjunction, Abbott’s people, culture and industry reputation reassures Marcy on a daily basis that she is at the right place.
